🎉 A Historic Day for St. Mary Elementary! 🎉
Today, we officially broke ground on our new playground project!
Since opening its doors in 1949, St. Mary School has been forming students in faith and learning for 77 years.. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our school, parish, and community supporters, we are excited to begin Phase 1 and Phase 2 of this transformational project.
✅ Phase 1: New perimeter fence and turf play area
✅ Phase 2: New swing set for our students
While construction is beginning, our work is not finished. We continue to raise funds for Phase 3, which will include a new climbing structure that will provide even more opportunities for fun, adventure, and active play for generations of St. Mary students.
This groundbreaking represents much more than dirt being moved—it is an investment in our children, our school, and our future.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered, prayed, and supported this project. We can't wait to watch our students enjoy this new space!

Big changes are happening! This week, we removed the old vinyl fence as we continue preparing the space for our new fence and playground project.
Every step brings us closer to creating an exciting, safe, and engaging outdoor area for our students to learn, play, and grow. We are grateful for the support of our families, parish, and community as this project comes to life.

Congratulations to our 6th Grade Class ! Today we had our 6th Grade Graduation Mass. 🎓 We are proud of the leadership, faith, and growth they have shown at St. Mary Elementary. Wishing them God’s blessings as they begin their junior high journey! 💙💛
Our Jazz Band hit the road today! 🎷🎶 Students shared their talents at the Avera Prairie Center and Village Cooperative. Proud of the way they represented our school through their music and kindness!

3rd graders completed a bottle buddy project to showcase their knowledge of someone they admire. They read a biography, presented to the class and wrote a report about their person. We are so proud of their hard work!

This month at Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools, we’re focusing on circumspection—the virtue of thinking before we act, considering the consequences of our choices, and seeking God’s guidance in every decision.
Circumspection helps us act wisely, make thoughtful choices, and live in a way that honors God and others. We’re encouraging our students to pause, reflect, and choose the path that leads to goodness and truth.

Today we celebrated the FINAL dart day of the school year! These students were caught acting like a Knight in their words and/or actions amongst many others throughout the school.
In addition, we honored these teachers who are retiring or leaving St. Mary at the end of this school year. We thank them for their time, talent & dedication to St. Mary!
Happy May Day! 🌸 Ms. LeGrand's preschool 3 students were able to spread joy today by delivering sweet May Day baskets to teachers all around the building. A little kindness goes a long way! 💐✨

Our 3rd graders had the best day exploring, learning, and discovering at the children’s museum! From hands-on exhibits to nonstop smiles, this field trip was one for the books 🧠💡
Our 5th graders had a great time learning about science from current Augustana University students—thank you for an engaging and fun visit!
What a great day! The PES Sisters visited our 6th graders and shared a powerful message of faith and service.
